Scope and contact
This policy covers upwelllaw.com and enquiries made through the phone number, email address or WeChat contact published on the site. Upwell Law is the brand used by this website. Please direct website privacy enquiries to contact@upwelllaw.com. The service provider, data handling and confidentiality arrangements for a formal engagement will be set out separately in writing.
Information you provide
The website has no user accounts, online enquiry form or online payment facility. If you contact us by phone, email or WeChat, we may receive your name, contact details, organisation, a summary of your matter, and any messages or attachments you choose to send. Please share only what is needed for an initial discussion.
Website operation and analytics
Hosting, content delivery and security services may process IP addresses, request times, page paths, browser and device information, and diagnostic data to deliver pages and investigate problems. Google Analytics 4 (GA4) loads by default unless this browser has a saved preference to turn it off. It helps us understand page views, referral sources, approximate locations, device types and interactions. You can turn analytics off using “Cookie settings” in the footer without affecting access to articles or contact details.
How we use information
We use enquiry information to respond, arrange discussions and assess possible collaboration. Technical data supports website operation, security and troubleshooting; optional analytics helps us understand how our content is read. We will explain any additional use connected with a formal engagement or outside advisers when relevant. We do not sell your contact details or treat an initial enquiry as permission to send marketing.
Our basis for processing
Depending on the activity and the applicable jurisdiction, processing may be based on consent, a service request you make, an agreed engagement, the need to operate and protect the website, or legal obligations. Website analytics is on by default and can be turned off using “Cookie settings” in the footer. Where separate consent or another procedure is required by law, we will follow that requirement.
Sensitive information and initial contact
Initial contact does not automatically establish a professional engagement. Before the recipient, purpose and a suitable transfer method have been confirmed, please do not send passwords, private keys, seed phrases, complete identity documents, account login credentials or sensitive material unrelated to your enquiry. Any sensitive information needed for a formal matter should be covered by agreed handling and confidentiality arrangements.
Providers, sharing and international processing
Vercel hosts the website and Google provides analytics. Email, WeChat and other communications providers also process information under their own service arrangements. We use these services only as needed. Sharing enquiry information with outside lawyers, accountants or other advisers requires appropriate authorisation or a basis under applicable law, except where disclosure is legally required. Some providers may process data outside your location. Any required notices, consents and other international transfer steps will depend on the actual arrangements.
How long information is kept
If an enquiry does not lead to an engagement, we delete or anonymise the enquiry information once it has been dealt with and further communication is no longer needed. Information needed for a dispute or legal obligation may be kept for that purpose and period. Retention for formal engagements is addressed in the relevant service documents. Website logs follow operational, security and provider retention arrangements. Analytics retention depends on Google Analytics and the settings for our property; a browser cookie expiry is not a server-side data retention period. Contact us for information about the arrangements relevant to you or to request deletion.
Security
We use access restrictions and reasonable safeguards appropriate to the information involved, and seek to avoid unnecessary collection or sharing. No internet transmission or electronic storage is completely secure. Please avoid sending sensitive material through a channel that has not been agreed.
Your rights and how to contact us
You can write to contact@upwelllaw.com to request access, correction, deletion, withdrawal of consent or restriction of processing. Explain your request and provide only the information needed to identify the relevant correspondence; do not attach a complete identity document at this stage. We will contact you if identity verification is needed and respond within the period required by applicable law. If a lawful exception prevents us from meeting your request, we will explain why. This policy does not limit any right to complain or seek a remedy under applicable law.
Managing website analytics
Open “Cookie settings” in the footer at any time to accept or decline analytics, or withdraw an earlier choice. Withdrawal stops analytics from loading in this browser and clears the GA cookies accessible to this website. It does not automatically delete information already lawfully processed on the server. Please contact us separately if you wish to request deletion. Our Cookie Policy explains the technologies and their expiry periods.
Children
The website is not specifically intended for children. Children should have guidance from a parent or guardian before contacting us or sharing information. Please contact us if you believe we have collected unnecessary information about a child.
Policy updates
We will update this page when website features, processing arrangements or applicable requirements change, and seek fresh consent where required. For privacy questions, contact contact@upwelllaw.com. Last updated: September 12, 2026.
